Dr. Paul Conneely and Mr. Alex Petsoglou (chief radiographic and MRI consultant of City X-Ray, Sydney) have formulated a two-day Workshop on podiatry radiology.

Dr. Conneely and Mr. Petsoglou are the founders of 3D radiology producing 3D angles called the "Angles of Paulex". These angles will be discussed in relationship to whether orthotics are needed and if applied are they doing what they purport to do. These images can also be used to construct images to show how well the foot is sitting in the orthotic and whether cutouts and other orthotic changes are in the correct place. This is a totally new radiology direction and currently the angles are being patented and the name 'Angles of Paulex' registered.

This Workshops will be a complete package.

The Workshop will start 8.30 for 9am and finish at 5pm. There will be comprehensive notes and an interactive CD as well as a certificate of attendance.

The workshop will cover;

- What is X-Ray: How it works, new features, new hardware, new software. What it can do and more importantly canot do.

- What is CT: How it works, new features, new hardware, new software. What it can and more importantly cannot do.

- What is ultrasound. How it works, new features, new hardware, new software. What it can and more importantly cannot do.

- What is MRI. How it works, new features, new hardware, new software. What it can and more importantly cannot do.

When to have combinations of the different forms of radiology performed.

How much radiation is there in the production of X-Rays and CT's etc.

A special new section that covers all the X-Ray radiology that a podiatrist can now order. Each view is demonstrated with a photo of how the X-Ray tube and the X-Ray plate are positioned as well as an X-Ray example. This allows one to explain to a radiological practice where terminologies may not be the same.

Topics covered will include all of the common fractures, bony injuries, tendon injuries and ligament injuries that occur in one's practice. A complete list is made below.

The aim of this Workshop is to give you the confidence to examine and understand your patient's radiology images in the consultation room. You will be able to give precise information about how the images were made, and where their problem(s) are also make sense to the patient exactly what the radiologist's report says in plain English.. It will surprise you how well this information will be received by your information hungry patient.

There are over 1500 images on the CD

The topics that will be covered include: Fractures of the tibia, fibula, talus, calcaneus, midtarsal bones and distal bones of the foot. These will be examined with standard radiology, CT and MRI.

There will be special imaging for talar dome injuries, tarsal coalition, stress fractures of the bones to the foot and ankle, Morton's neuroma (several cases including MRI using contrast). Lisfranc injuries and plantar fasciitis. Bunion's and foot abnormalities, subtle fractures, Joint injuries and steroid injections into joints.

Tibialis Posterior problems covered using Ultrasound and MRI. A rare injury of tibialis anterior rupture with ultrasound and X-Ray.

Other sections will include: foreign bodies, vascular imaging and what the results mean.

Finally there will be MRI imaging of the knee and hamstring injuries.
